Poems out, poem accepted, and Post A Story For Haiti
I'm a participant in "Post A Story For Haiti," a project initiated by Crossed Genres. If you click here, you'll find links to free fiction, including a link to my stories "Prometheus Rebound" (Helix #10, 2008) and "Variations for Four Hands" (Yellow Silk #14, 1985). Says the site, "[I]f you enjoy the free stories and want to show your appreciation, please donate to a charity involved in the Haiti relief efforts," followed by links to several organizations.
Two poems have just come out, and a third has been accepted.
"Butterfly Woman" appears in the Winter 2010 issue of Goblin Fruit. Click here for the text, here for my audio recording.
"Lepidoptera from Space" appears in the November/December 2009 Star*Line, journal of the Science Fiction Poetry Association.
Despite their similar titles, "Butterfly Woman" is the older poem by several years. It received second place in the 2003 contests of the Florida State Poets Association and fourth honorable mention in the 2004 contests of the National Federation of State Poetry Societies. I wrote "Lepidoptera from Space" last year in response to Star*Line's call for submissions for its special prose poem issue.
Star*Line has also accepted my poem "Evolutionary Variants on a Russian Proverb" for its July/August 2010 issue.
Back on Monday, Covenant passed 1,000 downloads between Manybooks (859), Smashwords (136), and Obooko (12). That doesn't include downloads made from my site or from other sites carrying the book, since I don't have those numbers available. But I feel very gratified and grateful!
